The Gurl Festival

Aug 14 - Sep 28, 2021

From pop culture to daily lives, the "gurls" have already formed their own flow.

In summer 2021, Interflow Foundation and Renaissance Foundation bring to you a festival that showcases 13 female artists. With their films and music, you are invited to join in confronting the madness of the world.

The Gurl Festival presents movie screenings, talks, an exhibition and a concert, to pay tribute to the female perspective and awareness in our pop culture and explore the link between artwork and our daily lives, in order to advocate for women's empowerment through arts and cultural participation.

Concert

CHANKA x Gigi Cheung x WHIZZ x TAOTAO & Flat 550

Apart from movie screenings, we invited 4 female music groups to show us the voices of the young female generation. In the concert of August 28, Gigi Cheung who holds her own attitude, the groovy-pop all-girl band WHIZZ, city-themed soundscape singer CHANKA and TAOTAO & Flat 500 with their solid urban R&B, such lineup will definitely show us Hong Kong at the time.

Starting with the all-girl band WHIZZ, the entire stage was filled with chilling vibes. Following their surprise collab with CHANKA, Gigi Cheung came up to take over the stage with her new songs. TAOTAO & Flat 550 then came with her R&B tunes, while another collab between them and Gigi reinvented a song that was performed in Gigi's session. CHANKA then wrapped up the concert with her sweet voice. On top of their original songs, it was also inspiring to see them covering songs from their female idols. We must also thank Scottie from the band Chonotenki for being our host this afternoon.
